Duration: 3 years (2024-2027)
Objectives:
In Uzbekistan's universities, the topic of Sustaunable Transport (ST) — which focuses on eco-friendly ways to move people and goods — is not yet well-coveres. It mainly appears in one new specialization within transportation studies. The SPHERE project fixes this by sharing the latest technologies, new methods, and proven approaches from Europen Union (EU) universites to Uzbek ones. This sharing happens by building complete study programs. Lessons learned from EU universites are key to adding modern courses tho these programs.
The main goal of SPHERE is to raise the quality of ST rducation in Uzbekistan to match EU standards. It also aims to support, spread, and highlight ST ideas more widely. At the same time, it makes ST studies more useful for jobs and everyday society's needs. As of November 2025, progress on student-focused programs for bachelor's and master's degrees is strong. The competence-based undergraduate/master curricule will be implemented after PC has analyzed existing ST curricula in the EU and Partner countries (PC). After identification of needed laboratory resources in PC HEIs and alignment with the recommended EU HEIs laboratory equipment list, laboratory equipment, softwere, and literature units will be purchases, and 6 new laboratories will be equipped. Undergraduate/master curricula with a set of at least 70 new courses will be developed and incorporated into 6 undergraduate/master curricula in PC HEIS, Four training of 72 PC teaching staff will be organized to acquire new teaching and learning methods. Tarinings for professionals in  the field of transport with at least qo different stakeholders in the field of transport is planned. Implementation of 12 one-day trainings (2 per PC HEI) for 180 professionals in the field of transport will be conducted. Project exploitation willl be done through the accreditation of 5 study programs (4 bachelor's and 1 master's) and the modernization of 1 study program at bachelor's level, according to national standards and the Bologna Declaration.
